5 players fans should be thankful for

The holiday season is upon us, and it’s time to say thanks to the following Philadelphia 76ers.

The Philadelphia 76ers have had many legends and icons that the fans have recognized as the greats in the past, and present. In my humble opinion, here are the ones we, as fans, should be the most thankful for.

1. Julius “Dr J” Erving

Arguably the greatest player in franchise history, The Doctor gave us a lot to remember. From “The Scoop” to the 1983 NBA Championship, Julius Erving is more than deserving of this top spot. A career 24.2 PPG, 8.5 REB, and 4.2 AST, he’s called “The Doctor” for a reason.

2. Wilt Chamberlain

A certain top-five player in NBA history, Wilt “The Stilt” was a undeniably a force to be reckoned with. So much so, the NBA had to change multiple rules for him to be somewhat slowed down. This includes the rule where a player cannot cross the free throw line when shooting. Scoring 100 points in an NBA game as well as 55 rebounds in a single game, Wilt Chamberlain is one player that every fan should be thankful for.

3. Allen Iverson

The man with the greatest crossover the NBA has ever seen, Allen Iverson gave Sixers fans many moments to remember. From his iconic crossover of Michael Jordan to “The Step Over”, he’s more than deserving of a spot here. A certain fan favorite, “The Answer” is one that every NBA fan should be thankful for.

4. Moses Malone

The man who was the final puzzle piece in the 1983 NBA championship, Moses Malone goes down as one of the best big men the league has ever seen. “The Chairman of the Boards” also goes down as one of the best rebounders of all time. He, as well as everyone else listed above, is one we should all be thankful for.

5. Joel Embiid

The current starting center for the team has a lot to prove in his, hopefully, long career. Having only played 172 career games, many may say it’s too early to rank him here. Joel Embiid is arguably the best center the game has to offer as now, and already one of the best 76ers talents of all time. We should DEFINITELY be thankful for.
